Data Replication
The information below covers the Office 2003 Hack and more.
Data replication is a simple matter provided you have the right software. This free replication software is truly free, easy to install and serves as disaster recovery for a number of situations, including Flash Drives!
Ever wanted to back up data to your flash drive on a regular basis? Ever want to copy files from your Flash drive to your hard drive? If so, then this free data replication software is just what you're looking for.
Data Replicator will watch for USB devices and when a new device is recognized, it will prompt you for an initial data replication configuration. The backup software will replicate files to or from the device depending on your preference.
Data replication can be interrupted at any time without damaging files. The backup software is smart enough to know what files were replicated and will replicate remaining files once the flash drive is reinserted.
Replicate Data
Files and folders can be replicated to multiple flash drives. For example, say that you want to replicate files located in /replicate-data folder, but only to the flash drive labeled 'replication'. Let's also assume you want to replicate files in the /data-recovery folder when flash drive labeled 'data recovery' is inserted; the data replication will occur only when the appropriate drive is inserted.
Once data has been replicated, you'll also receive a sound indicating the backup is complete. If you didn't select a notification file, then data will be duplicated without notifying you.
If you're concerned that the backup went off without a hitch, then you can turn data replication logging on. Logging will record every files backup progress and can amass a large amount of data in a very short time.
I have not tried to replicate data over a network, but would guess that limitations are only those imposed by your bandwidth. Although flash drives are small in size, replicating large amounts of files at short intervals could impact network performance.
