Firewall Test

Winpopup

Win Popup

This pop up blocker test is designed to check for the Windows messenger vulnerability also known as net send spam, messenger spam or winpopup.

If you have ever received a gray pop up box bearing spam (unsolicited advertisements) with an "OK" button, then your system may have the messenger vulnerability.

Run the test and we'll attempt to send you a harmless pop up message.  It's instantaneous, so if you don't see the message within a few seconds, you have passed the test.   The fix for this pop up spam can be found here if you decide not to apply the security patches.

Notice:  Many users have applied the security patch provided by Microsoft's update site.  What you should know is that this fix may act as a pop up blocker for messenger spam, but you may still have a serious problem.   Here's why - the fact that you received this type of popup usually indicates that you are not running a firewall or have inadequate security protection!  By applying this specific patch, you stopped the popup, but still may be open to other types of attacks.
