Home Security Monitoring Software

Some of the better home security monitoring software allows you to ignore parts of the view screen so that you track only the motion you are interested in; for example, you may have a webcam set up to record your driveway but part of the recoding includes a busy street – with the right software, you can tell the monitoring software to block out the street portion and record only what you need.

At the time I started this page, there was not much in the way of security monitoring software, but that was years ago and today, just about every webcam has an associated software package that if free and as a result, this list has dwindled.

WebCams.py

This home security monitoring software is completely free and works with and remote security surveillance camera, such as your basic webcam from Logitech, Microsoft, Labtech and others. This is excellent surveillance software and turns any webcam into a home security camera that allows you to detect motion, remote HTTP monitoring (http video streaming) and email you when your security camera detects motion. Although the software has not been updated in a while, it’s still an excellent program.
