The following mobile number (+91 9703747643) was added to your Yahoo! account

I received this email from Yahoo which states that The following mobile number (+91 9703747643) was added to your Yahoo! account. Another email from Yahoo stating that New secret questions were added to your Yahoo! account (aa********). I looked at who the email was sent to and it’s a domain of mine, but not a Yahoo account.

After close look at the link, I found htt ps://edit.yahoo.com/forgot?stage=73748F8C858E88728F8D81758489748D7970832E838F8D&src=3D&intl=3Dus&done=3Dht tp://www.yahoo.com&partner=3Dreg

Notice the partner=3Dreg? Not sure how, but I’m guessing that some Yahoo! partner has struck a deal to verify X amount of accounts (some affiliate deal) and this is their method of doing it? Something along those lines.

Here are the emails:

The following mobile number (+91 9703747643) was added to your Yahoo! account ‎(aa********)‎.

You can now use this mobile number to recover your account in case you ever forget your password. To ensure that your account information remains accurate and secure we notify you whenever this information changes.

Regardless, if you didn’t make the change and receive an email that Your Yahoo! account information has changed or The following mobile number (+91 9703747643) was added to your Yahoo! account ‎(aa********), it is probably bogus. Don’t follow the link and instead, go to Yahoo! directly if you need to log in.
